About
CAAMP (styled in all capital letters) is an indie-folk band from America which was formed in Upper Arlington, Ohio, located on the outskirts of Columbus. CAAMP was formed by childhood friends Taylor Meier (singing and guitar) and Evan Westfall (banjo and singing). They met each other during their school days. It was their love for music and storytelling which became the base of this famous folk band.
Early start
Meier and Westfall started writing songs and playing together as teenagers. They took their influences from folk, Americana, bluegrass and indie rock and developed a distinctive sound that was centered around acoustic instruments, rich harmonies and emotionally honest lyrics. Years of local performances and small venues helped them hone their craft before officially forming CAAMP and building a dedicated following throughout Ohio and neighboring states.
Emerging as a Power
In 2016, CAAMP released their self-titled debut album, “CAAMP.” The album brought the band’s heartfelt songwriting and organic sound to listeners, and was well received by fans of folk music. Songs from the album served to shape their identity as a band capable of marrying intimate storytelling with an infectious melody.
The band built on their breakthrough with the 2018 release of “Boys,” featuring fan-favorite tracks and highlighting the band’s evolution as songwriters and performers. This album broadened their audience and reinforced their place in the indie-folk community.
Commercial success
CAAMP released “By and By” in 2019, which is often referred to as one of their most successful albums. The record included some of their most beloved songs and was a major commercial success. The band’s warm acoustic textures, reflective lyrics and adventurous spirit resonated with a larger audience around the world via streaming platforms and extensive touring.
